ViSalus Sets Guinness World Record for Donation of Baked Goods

ViSalus has once again shown that helping people transform their lives through health and fitness is more than just a mission statement. With a donation of 420,000 Nutra-Cookies, or 52,000 pounds of cookies to the Huntington Area Food Bank, we have set the Guinness World Record for the largest donation of baked goods!

While setting the record is a great accomplishment, the most important aspect of this is that the donations went to children in need that live in statistically one of the unhealthiest areas in the United States. The donation was worth 1.2 million dollars! To learn more about this incredible accomplishment, check out the video below and also take a look at the press release.

LOS ANGELES, CA, December 13, 2012 – ViSalus, known for its mission of helping people transform their health and fitness through the Body By Vi 90-Day Challenge, has set a new Guinness Book of World Record for the world’s largest donation of baked goods, as a result of a 52,000 pound donation of its all natural “mini-meal” Nutra-Cookies to the Huntington Area Food Bank (HAFB) located in West Virginia.  The donation of 420,000 cookies helped HAFB serve approximately 96,000 food insecure individuals in 12 counties of southern West Virginia, four counties of northeastern Kentucky and Lawrence County, Ohio.

In support of Hunger Action Month (September), local West Virginia ViSalus Promoters gathered at the HAFB, alongside the Mayor of Huntington, W.Va., Kim Wolfe, to help provide support and hand out the  420,000 individually wrapped Nutra-Cookies, to children in need.  The unprecedented donation provides the children of Huntington, W.Va., which is statistically one of the unhealthiest cities in the United States, with a healthy, convenient on-the-go snack. Each Nutra-Cookie contains nine grams of protein, a full serving of fiber, calcium and fruit and vegetable nutrients and come in three flavors: Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Raisin.

“We are incredibly proud of our new world record, but more importantly that we were able to help those who need it most by providing them with healthy alternative snacks,” said ViSalus Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Ryan Blair. “At ViSalus, we are constantly challenging ourselves to make a difference in people’s daily lives and giving back is an integral component in our company’s culture.”
