It may surprise those not familiar with Teresa Scanlan’s story that she once struggled with her weight. Yes, that’s right… this Vi Model Champion and former Miss Nebraska and Miss America was once 30 lbs. heavier.
“I struggled with staying on my workout regimen, being good with nutrition and continued to not have self-control or discipline,” Teresa says.
Then in the last few months leading up to her crowning moment as a Vi Model Champion, Teresa narrowed her focus and dedication to The Challenge, which changed everything for her.
“From there I realized I could push myself to do other things I never even thought I’d be able to do,” Teresa says.
And while one may think this beauty queen is accustomed to winning, becoming a Vi Model Champion still came as a surprise to her. “It was a huge shock, but definitely an honor and a privilege,” says Teresa, who plans on spending her $5,000 Champion check on orphans she sponsors in Kenya.
“They work just as hard as I do, but they don’t have these kinds of opportunities,” she says.
It’s also why PROJECT 10™ Kids really resonates with her. “To see that we have been able to feed so many children, that we have been able to touch so many lives, has been completely overwhelming,” says Teresa.

PROJECT 10™ Challenge goals can be (or include) weight loss, building lean muscle or improving energy and endurance. Every participant should consider his or her personal circumstances and create goals that are both reasonable and achievable. Vi discourages rapid and extreme weight loss, which can actually be unhealthy and emphasizes that safe and sustainable weight loss is never achieved without exercise and sensible eating. Persons with preexisting medical conditions should consult a healthcare professional before embarking on any fitness, health or weight-loss program.
