On the soccer field, Heather Mitts (Feeley) proved she knew all the plays. Scoring goal after goal, Heather eventually became a three-time Olympic gold medalist. Backing this incredible athletic ability was her positive mindset, team-building skills and laser-focused ambition. It’s what Heather will use to score big as a Vi Promoter as she balances life as a new mother.
A New Kind of Adventure
Heather’s portfolio is quite impressive: from working for ESPN as a sideline reporter and appearing on the 2005 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, to competing with the U.S. National Women’s team in the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. Each achievement began with setting a goal. And although now retired from professional soccer, Heather has set entirely new goals—which have everything to do with the PROJECT 10™ Challenge and an adorable two-week-old baby boy named Connor William.
“After ending my career, I was really excited to move on to my next adventure in life—motherhood,” says Heather. “And even though it’s only been a couple of weeks, I’ve already experienced some pleasant surprises, like how alert Connor is. Oh, and I’m surprised by how many diapers I go through in a day.”
Promoting The Challenge
Another part of Heather’s day is spent sharing The Challenge with others. She and her husband, NFL quarterback A.J. Feeley, were introduced to Vi by Vanessa Wilhelm, wife of linebacker Matt Wilhelm and a Vi Promoter.
“I’m all about leading a healthy and active lifestyle,” she says. “It’s a perfect time for me to promote The Challenge, and it’s a bonus that the Vi products taste so good. Everybody has goals, and I am looking forward to helping them achieve them. I’m really hands-on, and my athletic background will enable me to give people advice on fitness while also supporting and encouraging them.”
Finding the Balance
Heather has been fortunate to have her own strong support network, which helped her train for the Olympics while pushing through serious injuries. This continued support will definitely be welcomed as she ventures into the next stage of her life as a busy working mom.
“I am challenging myself to shed the 40 pounds I had gained during my pregnancy and to get my old body back in a healthy way,” she says. “I want to lead by example—not only for my team but also for my little boy—and show people how to discover the best you. It’s about finding that balance in life and becoming a little bit healthier each day…90 days at a time.”
