Make a Meal Out of Our Maple-Pecan Vi-Shape Shake
- 2 scoops Vi-Shape Shake Mix
- ¼ cup pecans
Did you know? Spanish explorers were the first Europeans to come into contact with pecans during the 1500s in what is now Mexico, Texas and Louisiana. Pecans are native to North America and started being commerically grown in the United States beginning in the 1800s. The U.S. now produces between 80% and 95% of the world’s pecans, which growers harvest around mid-October from more than 10 million trees.
Beyond their rich, buttery flavor, pecans pack protein, fiber,iron, antioxidants and beneficial nutrients. They are also high in healthy, unsaturated fat. Pecans contain Vitamins A, B and E as well as calcium, magnesium, potassium, manganese, zinc and more.
Combine with berries or dried fruit, or pair with Greek yogurt or goat cheese for a satiating snack.
- ¼ cup rolled oats
- 2 medjool dates (pitted)
- 1 tbsp. sugar free maple syrup
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- ½ tsp. nutmeg
- 6-8 oz. almond milk
- Ice cubes
- In a food processor, blend pecans and dates until smooth in consistency.
- In a blender, combine pecan and date mixture with remaining ingredients until well blended and smooth. Garnish with pecans and banana slices as desired.
