Project 10 Kids is Vi’s charitable arm and Promoters all over the world have found unique ways to give back to children in need. Chris Homeier is a Promoter who co-owns a juice bar in Illinois. He contributes all his tips toward purchasing donations for Project 10 Kids charities. We sat down with Chris in between smoothies and caught up on what’s inspired his spirit of giving.
ViSalus: How did you hear about Vi and what made you want to become involved with Project 10 Kids?
Chris Homeier: A workout partner and Vi Promoter, Derek Smith, reached out and encouraged me to get involved. Derek really believed in me and wanted me to join Vi. Initially I said ‘no’ because I had a full-time job. Fast forward one month and I found out my job was being eliminated. I started promoting Vi in October 2012, opened my juice bar a little over a year later and started donating tips in December 2013.
Right away I knew I wanted to contribute to Project 10 Kids. I love that this company helps others in need by providing nutritious meals, drinks or snacks.
Vi: Tell us more about your idea to contribute your tips to Project 10 Kids.
CH: There was no hesitation to donate my tips to Project 10 Kids. For me, it’s the easiest way to give back on a daily basis—and it all adds up!
Vi: How much money in tips has been donated to Project 10 Kids?
CH: I have collected $10,208.92 to date. Every month I update a sign that sits in front of the cash register with the amount of tips donated—and that number keeps growing.
Vi: Do you have a goal for how many donations you want to raise for Project 10 Kids?
CH: I feel as though this very personal project has unlimited potential and I can’t wait until I am able to raise another $10,000 or more. On Sundays I ask my customers to pay it forward. If they donate just $2 to Project 10 Kids, they receive a stamp on their rewards card. When my Sunday volume picks up, Project 10 Kids benefits from increased donations.
We love Chris’ take on charitable giving and couldn’t be more grateful for his donations to Project 10 Kids. Have a story to share about you or your organization’s giving efforts? We want to hear from you! Submit your story to email@example.com for a chance to be featured.
