“BAY CITY, MI — Bay City Commissioner Christopher Girard lost 180 pounds with a strict regimen that included diet shakes and exercise. He leaves Thursday, July 18, for Orlando, Fla., to find out if he’s won a $5,000 Los Angeles shopping spree in a weight-loss competition.
Tipping the scales in January 2012 at 420 pounds, his most humongous, he says he turned to the ViSalus diet and nutrition program. There also were daily boot camp and kickboxing sessions, plus weekend runs.
“The first 90 days, I lost 56 pounds,” he said.
Pounds have continued to fall from Girard’s 6-foot-5-inch-frame. See a photo of Girard before and after here.
Girard will learn this week if he is the winner of a shopping spree, one he says he needs to get new clothes.
“I need to have professional attire in my closet because of what I do. I’d also like to have some kind of fun, just kind of in-style, stuff,” he said.
Girard is the 37-year-old president and chief executive officer of Do-All Inc., a nonprofit agency that helps individuals with disabilities find jobs and operates several retail businesses in Bay City. He’s also a city commissioner.
Molly Girard is nervous about her husband’s trip to Orlando, where ViSalus representatives will announce a shopping spree recipient in the male weight loss category.
She has seen her husband’s weight go up and down, his frustration and silence increasing with every additional pound.
“It’s hard, and it’s expensive clothes-wise,” she said. “He’s a much happier person when he has lost weight.”
Congratulations Christopher Girard, your hard work has transformed your body and may literally pay off!
